Application of duality theory to the flow distribution models

The paper presents facts of the symmetric duality theory for solving the minimization problems for the separable convex function with linear constraints [1--3]. These facts are used to specify a set of requirements for the functions that determine interrelations between pressure drop and flow rates in individual branches of hydraulic circuits and to prove the existence and the uniqueness of solution of the flow distribution problem, and to study properties and interrelations of three formulations of the flow distribution problem treated as a system of equations along with two mutually dual optimization problems.
