Fast data assimilation for atmospheric and oceanic studies

Some aspects of the increase in efficiency of the joint use of models and measured data for reconstruction of the of multy-dimensional fields of the state function are discussed. In particular, the procedure is proposed to construct the fast data assimilation algorithms based on variational principle and splitting techniques. Such algorithms are more economically attractive then those of adjoint functions and Kalman filtering. As soon as the data come, they are assimilated by the algorithms. Besides, the algorithms admit to input the expeditious changes in the goal functionals taking into account the set of current measurements. In this case, just slight modification of the basic model algorithm is needed.
